Jon Bray, OGA member in the South West Area, shares his excitement in hearing that his gaffer, 'Unity', launched last year, is one of six boats shortlisted for the Classic Boat Magazine 2017 awards in the ‘Traditional New Build’ category.
'Unity' is a new workboat-style yacht, designed by Jon Bray, built by West Country Cutters and launched in 2016.
Voting closes on 15 March 2017 and there's eight pages of boats in four categories, as well as the 'Person of the Year' nominees to browse in the February issue of the magazine, out now.
If you're not a subscriber to Classic Boat Magazine, don't worry, you can browse all the shortlisted nominees on the Classic Boat website and vote online for the winner in each category.
We wish Jon good luck with 'Unity', and hope to find there will be an OGA member amongst the winners. Find more about 'Unity' online and in the November 2016 issue of Gaffers Log. Classic Boat has this to say about 'Unity'. Don't forget to vote before 15 March 2017!
A new workboat-style yacht is a rare event and this one is as traditional as it gets: larch on sawn-oak frames, copper and bronze-fastened. She looks the part but has actually been built for easy sailing for two.
