A fleet of OGA boats from the East Coast, Bristol Channel, Netherlands and Solent Areas headed Sou' by Sou'West on Sunday 23 July, 2017 for a cruise in company with boats joining the fleet for various sections of the passage.

With the fleet scattered along the South West coast from Padstow to Salcombe by the end of the week . . . the majority reached Plymouth by 29 July for a weekend organised by the South West Gaffers.

Having sailed on to Falmouth, the decision was made yesterday that the southwesterlies forecast for the next week made a passage to the Scillies and back impossible. There will be more reports from skippers and crews in the OGA members' newsletter, Gaffers Log and here on the website in due course. Several of the boats in the fleet intend to enjoy these new sailing grounds for a few more days before returning to home waters, maybe some will reach the Scillies if the weather improves . . .
