This event was still a bit early in the year for many Gaffers so those that attended were obviously the better organised and had taken advantage of some good weather to get the painting and varnish done. In fact, one of the boats still had a strong smell of drying varnish as it passed over the start line!
Although each year the beach at Stone Point is a different shape it is always an amazing place to gather for a barbeque. The first to arrive on Friday did a litter pick and collected some drift-wood to add to the charcoal for cooking the impressive diversity of food. The weather was perfect and the sun set over the line of boats anchored just off the beach for a memorable evening.
The following morning everyone managed a good start to the race with no-one over the line and no stragglers, although they had to contend with a white plastic motorboat as the start line committee boat.
Yet again, a well organised East Coast event that combined a social gathering with a race.
