Following the success in 2018, we are returning to Stone Sailing Club on the River Blackwater, for the Annual East Coast Race and prizegiving.
Small boat enthusiasts and trailer sailors are also welcome for a shorter race "around the cans" in the middle of the day and social gathering ashore in the evening.
Launching is easy for trailer sailors off the beach in front of the club.
Last year, the weather was hot, the natives were friendly and all went really well. All we needed was just a little more wind! But this did not dampen the enjoyment for the fleet who universally voted to return again this year. Stone Sailing Club is located in a sunny corner of the River Blackwater with sandy beaches and easy access to deeper water for serious sailors.
The East Coast Race brings together traditional gaffers with more modern craft and there is also a place for traditional Bermudans. The racing divides the fleet into speciality classes with one overall winner for the giant Winners Pennant, donated by James Lawrence Sails. If the weather is fine we will try to race all the way down to Wallet Spitway and back. There will be good food and drink ashore for crews and supporters - what's not to like?
The East Coast Race event provides a great curtain raiser for the OGA Summer Cruise which starts on Sunday.
Further details for the Annual Race and Summer Cruise will be available soon, but put the dates in your diary now.
