The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta co-ordinator invites OGA members to think about joining the regatta, now in its 32nd year. It is exclusive to classic, vintage and traditional yachts and runs from April 17 - April 23 2019. Read on for suggestions about how to get to Antigua, with or without your own boat.
It is the largest regatta for classic yachts in the Caribbean. Based at Antigua Yacht Club the regatta is world renowned for consistent trade wind sailing, safe and gentlemanly racing and hospitality. Parties ashore are legendary (especially the sea shanty competition). Amongst other events, we offer 4 days of racing, with an optional single handed race as an extra and a prizegiving ceremony in the UNESCO World Heritage site, Nelson’s Dockyard. Dockage is included in our entry fee and it is a great way for classic boat enthusiasts to meet and mingle with other like minded people, including a large number of Caribbean cruiser sailors.
Visit the website for more information.
If owners are anxious about crossing the Atlantic, there are various options open for transporting yachts here by container ship, and there is also a classic transat rally leaving Lanzarote on January 8 2019 - so its never been easier to get here to Antigua. We can put OGA members in touch with charter boats, and boats that have crew places on board too if they’d rather leave their lovely old ladies at home. In 2019, the regatta falls over Easter so its even easier to get away from work.
We’d love to have the opportunity of hosting OGA members here in Antigua, 2019.
