Sign up now to join the new SW Gaffers Festival of Sail in Plymouth.

We need estimates of likely numbers planning to come along. We have booked space at Yachthaven Marina but as the season gathers momentum space will become a premium. So to help with juggling arrangements at the marina, as well as general organisation, we are keen to have an early estimate of numbers. Below are links to the online invitation with a summary programme and registration forms. Also there is a race entry form as well as a merchandise order form if you wish to have a colourful reminder of the event!

Please help us by booking as early as you can, and no later than 22 June.

The popularity of the Annual Start Bay Rally and Race has diminished over the last years so this year it was decided to move our main OGA event to Plymouth Yachthaven which is more central location along our coastline and where a considerable number of boats are berthed. We have renamed it South West Gaffers Festival of Sail. The racing and social side of the event will be enhanced in the hope of attracting more boats. It is hoped trailer sailor boats will come along as well using the adjacent facilities at the Mountbatten Sailing Centre. Plymouth Sound presents an excellent theatre for racing.

Planned programme

Boats are expected to arrive on the Friday and in the evening the Clovelly Bay Inn has been booked for our dinner and briefing for the racing on the Saturday. Racing will be in the the Sound and afterwards the Ocean room of the neighbouring Mountbatten Centre which is adjacent to the bar has been booked for dinner and prizegiving. The Calstock Rubber Band or rather a smaller section of this locally reknown band, known as the Inner Tube will entertain later in the bar. Racing on the Sunday will be to Saltash SC. which has kindly offered to host us. A pint and a pasty awaits all. Afterwards a pontoon party will precede our dinner at the nearby pub. Departure is on Monday morning and for those that wish, there is a follow on rally at Fowey Classics which starts on the Tuesday.
